LAKE FOREST FOOTBALL CAMP

Email sent to AZ campers on 5/15 at 835pm

CAMPERS,

We look forward to welcoming you back to Pinnacle High School, Mayo Blvd, Phoenix, AZ for our camp on Saturday morning. Here are a few important bulleting points.

Camp registration line will open at 8 am. Not earlier. It is recommended that campers who are class of 2026 or younger do not arrive to register until after 9 am. Individuals in the class of 2025, can have parents register on your behalf, or can register themselves during the recruiting fair time block as well.

Only members of the class of 2025 can attend the recruiting fair in the field house from 8:30-9:45 am. Parents can not enter this area at this time. The recruiting fair is limited to the class of 2025 due to NCAA regulations at certain levels of football. Please do not try to "work-around" this -- you will have a chance to meet with the coaches all day ON THE FIELD.

Only players and college coaches will be allowed on any of the fields, or track. Parents are welcome to watch from the stands only.

The complete estimated schedule for camp can be found at http://www.lakeforestfootballcamp.com/schedule-of-events.html

All athletes should bring a large water bottle. This is Arizona, you are used to this. We will have some water "troughs" available throughout the camp, but with the sure size of the camp, there is no way to keep it from running out. Additionally, while we are using multiple fields, you should bring your water bottles to the field you are on. There will be several water breaks during time on the field. Current temperatures are estimated to be 101* for Saturday during camp. No bags should be placed on turf, only on the inside lane of the track.

All athletes MUST wear the camp shirt that we provide with their number on it. This is the only way for coaches to identify you in a see of red. There will be multiple competition opportunities for you.

Position specific notes:

1. Quarterbacks and Kickers/Punters should bring their own footballs and have them marked clearly. Though we will have some footballs at camp, they are definitely not the ones that you are used to throwing or kicking, to perform your best, you should have the ball that you are most comfortable with. We as a camp, can not be responsible for your football. Please make sure that you keep track of it. Additionally, kickers should bring their tees, and holders.

2. Lineman- if you want to prevent your camp shirt from ripping during one-on-ones as can sometimes happen, please feel free to bring a mesh jersey to put over your shirt during the one-on-one competitions.

3. Any player who is reckless, or is perceived to not follow tempo instructions, will be warned the first time. If they do not heed the warning, they will be asked to leave.

Here are the "secrets" that college coaches are looking for.

1. We are looking to see how you move in specific drill work. Do you look like the ______ (pick a position) on our current team when you do the drills?

2. If the drill is unfamiliar and we are coaching you through it, do you make corrections?

3. Are you a safe practice player? (will you hurt our players if you practice like you camp- this will get you crossed off)

4. Do you compete?

5. Are you willing to engage with coaches, talk through your goals as a recruit, and can you appreciate that there are a lot of different schools in attendance? Not all small colleges are the same.

Will there be some schools that "offer kids" at the camp?

Absolutely. Most colleges that are going to offer, will have met an athlete at least once before, or have evaluated them, or at a minimum know their academic background to know if they will be admitted to their school. Some will offer on the spot to a first-time meeting. Often, this is very specific to the College or University. If you are offered, you are able to ask questions of the coaches -- like what does an offer mean, is it committable...etc.

We will have two athletic trainers on site. They will not do any pretaping or spatting. They will only treat - with basic first aid/safety - athletes. Due to them not having a prior relationship with the athletes-- there is no negotiating with them if they indicate that an athlete needs to be removed for medical reasons (Concussions, heat illness, bleeding, etc.).

We are looking to hosting 40 colleges in attendance with the addition of the University of Indianapolis and St. Olaf College today.

Our coaching staff will be travelling over the next 48 hours to Arizona to bring you the best camp possible, so we may not be able to answer emails and phone calls, but we will do our best to help.

Let's show the nation the talent that can be found in Phoenix!

Go Foresters!
